SwissCollNet annual workshops are important events to exchange knowledge and ideas. They contribute to develop a strong and dynamic network and allow its members to share and extend their expertise.

The next annual SwissCollNet workshop will take place on 19th of January 2024 in UniS, Berne.

The day will start with a 1st block to update on SwissCollNet's activities with a particular focus on the project "Collection Survey" for a register of natural history collections hosted in Switzerland and the project "SVNHC" (Swiss Virtual Natrual History Collections) that aims to develop a national data aggregator and a public online-portal to provide open digital information on natural history collections hosted in Switzerland.

During the 2nd block in the morning, three speakers will present their projects supported by SwissCollNet and realised in their institutions. These presentations will focus on the imaging and digitization of objects/specimens in the fields of botany, entomology and palaeontology.

In the afternoon, the participants will be spread out in breakout sessions. After a short presentation from SwissCollNet grantees, participants will be able to discuss the various digitization processes and issues addressed by the speakers.

The day will be rounded up in plenary, to discover the new projet E-Specimina led by the Institute for Systematic and Evolutionary Botany of UZH (supported by Swissuniversities), followed by a presentation of SwissCollNet partners for the development of the SVNHC, InfoSpecies. The day will end with a general conclusion of this 2024 workshop.

We hope to see many of you there!
